Crop your session
Our crop feature allows you to crop either the start or finish point of your Hoolan session. It will:
-
Recalculate all your metrics including your personal bests and best in session statistics.
-
Give you the option to also crop the Apple Workout that is associated with your session.
Please note:
-
If it is a large session then it may take several seconds to process.
-
Crop is currently only available on our iPhone app
-
Right now, we don’t process Apple Workouts that may be associated with a Garmin session.

1. Crop your session tracks
Select to crop either the Start or Finish point of your session then use the '-' icon to remove the tracks (and associated data).
If you want to add them back, use the '+' icon. Your session duration will be adjusted as you crop.
-
Short tap on the icons for small movements along the tracks
-
Tap and hold for quick deletion of tracks
-
For medium speed tap and hold for a short amount of time, then repeat

Press 'Save' in the top right of the screen.
2. Crop your Apple Workout
If we detect that your session is linked to an Apple Workout, we'll prompt you to crop it at the same time.
Why this is recommended:
Cropping your Apple Workout is important because all health metrics in Hoolan are sourced directly from it. If your session and the Apple Workout are not properly aligned, one of two things can happen:
-
We may not be able to find your workout at all, which means no health metrics will be displayed.
-
Or, the health metrics shown in your session will be inaccurate, as they’ll come from the uncropped workout.
To ensure your session reflects accurate and complete data, we advise that you always crop your Apple Workout.
Extra permissions:
As we will be creating a new (cropped) Apple health workout for this session, we need you to accept some additional health permissions. You will only have to accept these the first time you crop.
What if a workout isn't detected?
If we can’t find an associated Apple Workout for your session, but you believe there should be one, then there are a few things you can try:
-
Open the Apple Fitness app and double check that you have a workout that matches the timing of the session in the Hoolan app.
-
On your phone go to: Settings > Privacy & Security > Health > Hoolan and make sure all permissions are granted then try saving your cropped session in Hoolan again.
-
If you recently changed phone then there may be a chance that your Apple Health data was not transferred across to your new phone, particularly if you didn’t follow Apple’s standard phone transfer flow and instead you set up your new phone from scratch. In order to make sure your Health data is preserved on your new phone we strongly advise that you follow Apple’s standard setup process to make sure all of your data is transferred across to your new phone: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/105132
